Visible Symptoms of Autism in Child

Autism is a mental condition that hits a small portion of the children population. But this does not mean that it would not happen to your child. A small portion does mean small but it would not disregard the fact that your child is still prone to developing autism. In this consideration, you should know what are the visible symptoms of autism in child. Here are those:

· Language delay

One of the best signs that the child is developing autism is language delay. A children normally speaks his first words before his first birthday, however, if the child has not been uttering even simple words after he turned 1 year old, then something wrong must be happening. Remember that the term ‘late boomer’ can easily be the term used which would then neglect the problem. Other manifestation of language delay is when the child uses gestures on pointing things instead of using words to describe them or to point them.

· Repetitive use of words or phrases in a normal setting

Repeating words that are unnecessary during the conversation is not a normal thing. This could sometimes be annoying to parent but it can be a clear sign that your child is developing autism.

· Resistance to change and insistence on a single activity cycle

Autistic child develops a single routine and develops a normal daily pattern. Having a child with this pattern is dangerous enough but what is more dangerous is when he resists change on this pattern. A child that insists on one activity cycle and rejects anything that would change this pattern could be a suspect of autism. Tantrums are the usual reaction if what they are accustomed to is changed.

· Fond on spinning object

One distinct character that the child is developing autism is his fondness on any spinning things. Other manifestation of the autistic behavior is his fascination on straight object and interest on arranging things in one straight line.

· Poor motor skills development

You may often see children that find it difficult to walk or do other physical movements. This is one of the clearest signs that the child is developing autism. The difficulty may be caused by other physical deformities but ultimately, autistic child cannot fully develop his motor skills.

· Apparent fear on things

Any normal child would cry if they feel afraid or threatened but the child with autism shows no fear on things including present danger.

· Detachment on the real world

It is true that the child loves to imagine things but if you can see that there are signs that the child is drifting away from the real world, he could be a suspect of autism. Oftentimes, drifting away from the reality could be seen on the child’s preference to stay alone and live alone.

· Lack of interest on toys

If you have heard about the importance of choosing the right toy on autistic child, then you could already have an idea why autistic child lacks interest on toys. In the strictest sense, child with autism does not like toys.

Other symptoms of child with autism are sustained odd play, inability to create little eye contact, unsuitable attachment on objects, rejection of cuddling, difficulty on socializing with other people, over- or under-sensitivity to pain and more.
